The Pension SuperFund announces Richard Wohanka as Chairman of the Board of SuperFund Trustees

2020 Trustees appointed to the Board of Trustees

The Pension SuperFund is delighted to announce Richard Wohanka as Chairman of the Board of the SuperFund’s Trustee company, alongside 2020 Trustees, represented by Antony Miller.  The Board of the Pension SuperFund’s Trustee will be completely independent with the remit of maintaining the highest standards of governance and safeguarding member benefits. Under Richard and Antony’s leadership, the Trustee will now commence the recruitment process for a third independent member of the Board.

Richard brings an exceptional track record in asset management spanning three decades.  He has forged a reputation for building robust investment strategies and running large institutions at leading investment and asset management firms. He was appointed by the HM Government to the Nuclear Liability Fund in 2012, becoming its Chairman in 2016 and currently holds a range of Non-Executive Director roles with Union Bancaire Privee Japan, BTG plc, the Embark Group and Pershing Square Holdings. Richard is also on the international advisory board of ICG and is a trustee of a number of pension schemes. A specialist in international finance, Richard’s career spans CEO roles for Union Bancaire Privée Asset Management, Fortis Investment Management, WestLB Asset Management, Baring Asset Management and Paribas Asset Management.

Antony is currently CEO of 2020 Trustees. He has extensive pensions, actuarial and trusteeship experience. After 12 years within leading employee benefits and trustee firms Antony helped establish Higham Dunnett Shaw, a firm that focused on pension scheme wind ups. On the successful sale of that business he returned to trusteeship, spending 6 years heading up Eversheds Professional trusteeship business before establishing 2020 Trustees. Over the last 6 years, 2020 Trustees has become the Professional Trustee firm of choice for complex and challenging situations, winning several awards in 2017 and 2018. Antony is recognised as a leading pensions trustee well known for his ability to think laterally with a focus on change management. 2020 Trustees has led some of the most complex pensions related transactions in the UK, finding solutions for employers, regulatory engagements and optimising outcomes for members and other stakeholders. He works on several large and high-profile cases spanning a range of situations and has advised Government on their re-invigorating pensions initiative.

Richard Wohanka said: “I’m delighted to be asked to take this role and be part of an organisation which aims to improve members’ retirement benefits as well as protect them. Our approach will be to manage pensioners’ funds in a way to enrich and secure their retirement and I am looking forward to helping realise these objectives.”

He continued: “I am extremely pleased to also welcome Antony to the Board of Trustees, who brings significant experience in the pensions field and has spent much of his working life finding solutions for pension schemes. We will add further strength and experience to the Board in the coming months.”

Luke Webster CEO The Pension SuperFund said: “I am delighted to welcome Richard and Antony, who both bring exceptional experience in asset management and pensions. We will continue to strengthen the team with further appointments in the future, including the recruitment of a third trustee, to ensure first class leadership and governance.”
