Welcome, Caroline Rookes CBE and Michele Hirons-Wood

The Pension SuperFund are glad to announce the appointment of two further Trustees, Caroline Rookes and Michele Hirons-Wood. They will be members of the Board of Trustees alongside Chairman, Richard Wohanka.

Caroline Rookes is currently a non-executive Trustee of both the Civil Service Sports Council Superannuation Scheme and NEST. During an eminent career in the Civil Service, where in 2010 she was awarded a CBE, Caroline worked as Director of Private Pensions at the Department of Work and Pensions, and Director of Savings, Pensions and Share Schemes at HM Revenue and Customs.

Michele Hirons-Wood is currently Head of Pensions at UK Power Networks, Director and Chair of the Appointments Committee for Electricity Pensions Ltd, Trustee Chair of the EPSL Group of Electricity Supply Pension Scheme, and Deputy Chair of EGCL ltd. Having worked in pensions now for nearly thirty years, her extensive career began at Mercer.

On Caroline Rookes’ appointment to The Pension SuperFund, she stated: “I have spent much of my career looking at how to create the best possible framework to support retirement outcomes in the UK. The Pension SuperFund does just this, providing a new approach to managing DB scheme liabilities which offers individual pension fund members greater security around their benefits.”

A statement from the CEO, Luke Webster: “We are delighted with the appointments of both Caroline and Michele. It is testament to the strength of the Pension SuperFund’s proposition that we are able to attract such experienced and able Trustees to support an already strong team. We wish them both well in their new roles”.
